Christmas Coffee Afternoon

Year 2 have been very busy this week preparing for the Christmas Coffee Afternoon.  The afternoon was 'maths' driven and every class in the school had a very important job to help our important fundraising event run smoothly!

Our job was to find out which flavour juice was the children's favourite. Our results showed that apple juice was clearly the most popular! The children used lots of maths throughout this real life problem including making tally charts, constructing block graphs and answering questions about our data.
The children enjoyed teaching Mrs Bird how to add up 2 digit numbers!!
Mrs Rowlinson kindly made 90 Christmas shaped biscuits and the children had to decorate them. However they had to work out how many Smarties and silver balls we need to buy to decorate them all. We had great fun and solved lots of mathematical problems at the same time!

The afternoon was a success and the children enjoyed sampling their hard work - yum!
